On September 27, 2008, Providence Regional Medical Center Everett broke ground on a 12-story, 680,000-square-foot medical tower on the current Colby Campus.
The tower is part of a $600 million investment by Providence Health and Services. It is the largest in the company's 150-year history and one of the largest private investments ever in this community.
The project's main purpose is to ensure that the medical center is equipped to continue providing award-winning health care to a region expected to reach one million county residents in the next two decades. Watch live construction webcam.

More interesting facts about the new tower: Floor space for the new tower will be equivalent to 16.3 acres. Underground loading dock will accommodate six delivery trucks (four of which could be semi-trucks). The steel frame is being built with 14,500,000 pounds of steel. Emergency backup electrical power will be equivalent to the amount consumed by 6,400 residential homes. The Emergency Department will be the size of 1.6 football fields. 6,000 double-bottom dump trucks of dirt were removed to build the foundation. All of the former parking garage material was recycled, including brick, concrete and wiring, with the exception of a very small amount of drywall and signage. Nearly 75 percent of all construction debris has been recycled to date (other than the former parking garage).
