Construction Updates

Construction Alert: Road Closures and Traffic Detours on 13th Street
Starting Nov. 9, please expect road closures and traffic detours on 13th St., between the Colby Campus parking garage and the Providence Regional Cancer Partnership. During this time:

  • Traffic on 13th St. will be one-way only, going westbound, during the day for the first seven days (with two-way traffic after hours).
  • Traffic to Colby Campus and the Cancer Partnership will be controlled by traffic flaggers.

These detours will take place as we excavate and place utilities between the new medical tower and new utility plant. This work expected to last through Wednesday, Dec. 23.

For your safety, please:

  • Follow the directions of the traffic flaggers.
  • Only use the sidewalk on the north side (Cancer Partnership side) of 13th St.
  • Do not walk next to the tower construction fence.

Top beam lifted into place on October 2, 2009

On Friday, October 2, the final steel beam—adorned with heartfelt messages and signatures from staff and employees—was lifted into place on top of the new medical tower.

To celebrate the “topping out” and mark this major milestone in the construction, employees, volunteers and families gathered on the top floor of the Colby Campus parking garage for a short ceremony.

Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson joined CEO Dave Brooks, Father John Rashford and Sister Dorothy in speaking at the ceremony. View more photos of the ceremony.

Virtual tour
becomes reality for local third-graders

Since September 2008, the third graders of Lakewood's English Crossing Elementary School have had a virtual front-row seat learning about the new 12-story medical tower. On May 29, the class went on a two-hour field tour of the construction site to wrap up their year-long learning experience.
