A Floor-by-Floor Overview of the New Medical Tower

 

The new 12-story medical tower will be home to the majority of Providence's major services.
 

Emergency Department

  • An entire floor dedicated to emergency and trauma services.
  • Current emergency rooms at Colby and Pacific campuses will consolidate to accommodate a predicted 120,000 to 130,000 patient visits per year.
  • 78 private treatment rooms
  • All patient rooms larger than the national average.
  • Two CT scanners and two X-ray imaging machines for quick access.
  • Children's play area

Diagnostic Imaging

  • Six imaging suites - four CT and two MRI.
  • State-of-the-art imaging technology.
  • Accommodates both inpatient and outpatient imaging needs.

Surgical Suites

  • Two floors dedicated to both surgical and interventional procedures.
  • Operating rooms will be 700 sq. ft. versus the current 400 sq. ft.
  • Rooms dedicated to specific surgical practices (cardiac, thoracic, orthopedic, vascular, plastic, urological, general, ENT, gynecological, cranial, and neuro surgeries) as well as all interventional procedures.

Intensive Care

  • 104 intensive care patient rooms on two floors.
  • Includes an ICU (Intensive Care Unit), a CSSU (Cardiac Surgery Single Stay Unit) and cardiac telemetry rooms.
  • Six shelled rooms for future use.
  • Family lounges and quiet rooms.

Acute Inpatient Care

  • 56 acute care patient rooms on each floor.
  • All rooms equipped with patient monitors and telemetry capabilities.
  • Fifth and ninth floors shelled out for future use.
