ACTIVITY CART
Work independently with nursing units to bring activities and toys to the patients and visitors in waiting areas, (i.e., offer videos, cards, books, magazines, games, etc.).
CAMP PROV
Perform a variety of support activities to special needs children ages 2-10 and their siblings at a day camp located at Forest Park in Everett. Tasks include swimming, art projects, reading, preparing food, singing and fun. One week minimum commitment between July 6 through and August 7, 2009. CHILDREN’S CENTER
Perform a variety of support activities to children with special needs along side the staff. Wash toys, help with clerical tasks, monitor and interact with patients and siblings in the play room in the lobby. Special clerical projects may be assigned by the manager.
CLERICAL AND OFFICE SUPPORT
Assist staff with clerical and office duties in clinical and administrative departments. Duties may include filing and collating, answering phones, using office machines and using a computer.
CRITICAL CARE WAITING ROOM/CARDIAC SINGLE STAY UNIT/SURGERY WAITING
Serve as liaison between staff and patient family members in the waiting room.
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT (ED)
Serve as liaison between ED staff and patient family members, assist personnel in the ED area. Minimum age is 21. Hepatitis B series offered.
EXPERIENCE SPECIFIC
Provide Comfort Dog services (if dog is certified by Delta Society); join the Heart to Heart volunteers to talk with others experiencing open heart surgery; personal interactions and clerical work at the Cancer Center & Breast Center regarding cancer survivors and provide an understanding ear for patients fighting cancer.
FAMILY MATERNITY CENTER
Assist personnel and offer support and assistance to families. Activities include stocking rooms, meeting patient needs, completing clerical tasks as needed, and discharging patients.
GIFT SHOP
Customer service, cashier duties, and re-stocking merchandize. Minimum age is 18 years or 16 if you work with another 16-year-old friend.
INFORMATION AMBASSADORS
Act as a greeter to everyone entering the hospital and offer assistance to visitors who are requesting information on locations of patients, hospital departments or scheduled meetings. Provide floral and mail delivery service for patients. Participate in clerical projects/mailings to support various Providence departments.
PATIENT CARE UNITS/MEDICAL SURGICAL FLOORS
Offer volunteer assistance for patients and staff on the nursing units.
PATIENT AND FAMILY ADVISOR
Work collaboratively with staff, physicians and other volunteers to make a difference in our patients' healthcare experience. Meet with hospital leadership to enhance the patient care experience; serve on committees to bring the patient and family perspective to hospital operations; evaluate programs, forms and materials.
PHARMACY
Volunteer placement is arranged by special request and/or for students needing volunteer hours to enter the pharmacy career field. HIV/AIDS training is required. Pharmacy Assistant Certificate from Board of Pharmacy is also a requirement. Placement is available in both clinical and retail Providence Regional pharmacies.
PROVIDENCE HEALTHCARE CLINIC
Perform a variety of clerical tasks for the clinic staff, or volunteer if you are a certified Medical Assistant, RN, or Nurse Practitioner.
SPECIAL PROJECTS/MAILINGS
Provide volunteer assistance for hospital projects including large mailings. Provide floral and mail delivery service for patients; assist outpatient services for errands and patient transport; deliver newspapers to patients and their families, help provide Amazing Service by stocking service kits throughout the hospital. Schedule a day to volunteer or be on a call list, so we can call you when projects are available.
TRANSPORT
Transport patients being discharged from nursing units to their cars, or to other destinations within the hospital, or run hospital errands.
THERAPUTIC RECREATION
Provide volunteer assistance to staff for recreational activities with patients. Volunteer placement as required by staff according to their needs.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
There are also other volunteer opportunities throughout the Providence Health System. Volunteers perform instrumental music for special occasions and operate a magazine service for waiting areas. The Volunteer Services Department strives to meet the needs of volunteers, employees, visitors and guests. Placement of volunteers is according to the availability of the position, the particular interest of the applicant, and the specific needs of the various departments.
