Employers work to transform the health care system
While politicians continue to wrangle over health reform bills in Washington, D.C., health care purchasers are seizing a unique opportunity to actually get the job done here in Oregon.
"By approving HB 2009, Oregon elected officials have ignited new energy for private sector health reform initiatives and for expanded public/private partnerships," says Oregon Coalition of Health Care Purchasers Executive Director Barbara Prowe.
Health care purchasers gather in Wilsonville on Nov. 19
Those health reform initiatives are at the top of the agenda of this week's OCHCP annual conference, attended by purchasers, health plans, providers, policy makers, consultants and consumers. Speakers include:
- Mary Grealy, president of the Healthcare Leadership Council, speaking on national health care reform
- Dr. Bruce Goldberg, director of the Oregon Department of Human Services and Oregon Health Authority, speaking on state reform initiatives
- David Rabiner, CSP, partner with Rabiner Resources, speaking on health care leadership skills
The conference is timed to coincide with the release of the 2009 OCHCP Quality Matters Report. This report, which addresses health plan, hospital and physician practice quality in Oregon, will provide the first publicly reported results of the eValue8™ health plan standardized request for information.
For more information about the one-day conference or to register, visit OCHCP online or e-mail the conference organizers.
