Ask Your Doctor About Generics
Prescription medications are a significant expense in health care. Generic drugs are now available in all major therapeutic drug classes and are usually subject to a lower copayment or coinsurance. Generics offer effective treatment for many of the common conditions treated in routine care and are equivalent to brand-name products in safety, quality and performance.

Concerned About Quality?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) closely regulate all generics, requiring rigorous testing to ensure they are fully equivalent to their brand name counterparts. The FDA also rates generic drugs with an A-rating if it provides the same amount of drug over the same amount of time as its brand equivalent. Most pharmacists will substitute a generic for a brand drug only if the generic is A-rated.
