CMS Requires Creditable Coverage Notification to Medicare-Eligible Employees
This month, Providence Health Plan will begin notifying employers of regulations from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that require them to notify Medicare Part D-eligible individuals if one or more of the prescription drug plans they offer is "non-creditable" to the Medicare Part D coverage.
CMS requires that employers notify affected employees by Nov. 15th. Producers will receive copies of letters sent to employers they represent who have "non-creditable" drug coverage.
To help employers identify if any of their employees are affected by CMS's non-creditable coverage rule, we have identified which Providence Health Plan group pharmacy products qualify as "non-creditable" online. Employers also can download sample notification letters at this Web site.
For additional information, employers can visit the CMS Web site at www.cms.hhs.gov/creditablecoverage.
