The Providence hospital expansion allows us to provide services that respond to the tremendous growth in our communities, including Hood River, Klickitat, Wasco and Skamania counties.

Summer 2007:
Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital celebrated 75 years of service to Gorge communities. To kick off the hospital expansion, a ground breaking ceremony was held in August. |

Providence was presented with a Certificate of Congressional acknowledgment, highlighting the hospital’s 75 years of community service. Long time Hood River resident Mylene Walden, representing her husband, Congressman Greg Walden, attended to present the honors. |

It was official.The ground was truly “breaking,” on a daily basis, from that moment on. |

Fall 2007:
To support 36,000 square feet of new building space, heavy foundation work began first. |
|

Utilities were expanded to support growing hospital needs. That meant moving them under ground to allow more space for patient treatment areas.

The construction site is a flurry of activity on a daily basis. |

Winter 2007:
Construction on the hospital’s northeast end will add private rooms and space to our surgical and ER services. The first phase of construction will add new space to the existing building, scheduled for completion by late 2008 or early 2009. |

Emergency Room access on the hospital’s north entrance, off 13th street, is open throughout construction. |

Once the new construction is complete, the hospital’s main entrance will change:
(Current) from the west side of campus on 13th street…
(New) …to the east, with a new grand entry plaza with pedestrian walkways atthe corner of 12th and May streets… |
