One Moment:
Expanding and Modernizing Our Patient Services and Facilities

Why We Need to Do It
With an expected population growth of 27 percent in the Columbia River Gorge during the next 20 years, Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital's capacity to meet our community's health needs will be challenged. Medical and surgical advances, new technologies and changes in how patients receive their care require a larger, more efficient facility. Patient and visitor privacy will be enhanced, improving our quality of patient comfort and service. Finally, facility design and construction breakthroughs of the past 30 years will allow us to enhance our hospital's energy conservation and environmental protection.

What We Are Planning to Do
We will build an addition that doubles the available square footage of the hospital. The current facility will, in turn, be completely modernized. Departments will be expanded and, in some cases, relocated to meet growth projections. The entire facility will be redesigned to meet the needs of patients and their families while providing a more efficient space for physicians and hospital staff. Reflecting our commitment to the health of our Gorge communities, the entire expansion and renovation will follow the Green Guide for Health Care, focusing on environmentally healthy and sustainable building design, construction and operations.
