Construction around Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital seems to be everywhere, and has limited parking in many areas. The good news is hospital and clinic employees have begun parking off site to make room for patients, families and visitors to find space close to the hospital.
Parking for patients is available in the lot outside the 13th Street entrance and around to the May Street entrance. Parking has also been set aside in the lot at the corner of 13th and Montello, just below the Emergency entrance. Those who might need a ride from the lower lot to the hospital will be able to press a specially installed buzzer which will ring inside the hospital. A hospital employee will pick them up in a four-seater golf cart for the ride up the hill. Any construction worker in an orange vest can also provide assistance or answer questions.
"We want to make sure our patients and other visitors know how important they are to us," says Jean Sheppard, associate administrator responsible for construction. "We're trying to be sensitive to the inconvenience we're creating for everyone during this major expansion. We know the end result will make it all worthwhile." Patients or community members who have questions about construction or hospital parking, can call the Community Relations office, 541-387-6342.
