Providence Hood River Welcomes New Foundation Director
7/11/06
The Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital Foundation recently welcomed K. Rena Whittaker as its new executive director. She succeeds Judy Spellecy Jensen, who resigned in April to spend more time with family.
Rena comes to Providence Hood River with eight years in community development and fundraising at Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City. A native of Clackamas County, Rena worked with community groups to address some of its most critical health needs. She ran several successful, large fundraising campaigns that supported the hospital in its community outreach. Rena grew up in a family with strong community involvement. "Our parents always taught us the importance of caring for our community. We learned early on about giving of our time, talent and treasure," she says.
In addition to regular fundraising and development duties, Rena will coordinate the hospital's capital building campaign in 2007.
Rena and her husband, Tim, a Hood River native, and their three children, moved back here last year. Rena says she knew she wanted to work at Providence Hood River after spending time in the emergency department. "The care I received at Providence Hood River was exceptional. I knew this was where I wanted to continue my work in community development and fundraising. Providence Hood River truly is a community treasure and I am blessed to have the opportunity to live and work in such a wonderful place."
