Hood River's FISH Food Bank will be open this Saturday, January 20th, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, staffed by Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital administration. The group plans to open the food bank the third Saturday of each month, when family food reserves tend to run low.
"This is the first time in FISH's history we've been able to open on a Saturday," reports FISH board president Marianne Durkan. "Many people can't get to the food bank during the work week, so to have Providence step forward is a God-send."
"We are always looking for mission outreach opportunities," says Providence Mission and Spiritual Care Director Gary Young. "Our administrative team wanted a community volunteer project to work on together when we learned of the need for FISH to be open one Saturday a month. It seemed like a natural partnership. We hope to include other employees in the coming months."
