| LA CLINICA RECEIVES PROVIDENCE GRANT
TO INCREASE ACCESS TO DENTAL CARE
April 22, 2008
HOOD RIVER, Ore – People without insurance or resources who need dental care have an added resource, thanks to Providence Health & Services. La Clinica del Carino recently received $60,000 from Providence. The money means the clinic can increase dental services for Gorge residents without resources, who often turn to the hospital’s Emergency Department for care.
This grant is the result of the collaboration between La Clinica del Cariño and Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, both founding members of the newly formed Gorge Dental Access Coalition.
A recent Providence community needs assessment identified that access to oral health care is a critical ongoing need in Gorge communities. “It’s exciting to learn that, by building bridges and coming together to address the community’s needs, we are able to help those who otherwise may not receive services,” said Elizabeth Aughney, D.D.S., dental director at La Clinica del Cariño. “We are thrilled to be part of this truly community-driven collaboration.”
The mission of La Clínica del Cariño Family Health Care Center is to provide high quality medical and dental care to the people of our community, including people whose economic, cultural or social conditions might otherwise prevent them from getting health care.
