Jan. 4, 2008

WHAT:
Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital will host a free sleep seminar and behind-the-scenes tour of Oregon’s newest state-of-the-art Sleep Clinic.

WHEN:
6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 9

WHERE:
Education Center, Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital
811 13th Street, Hood River, Ore.

DETAILS:
Getting a good night’s sleep is more than a luxury - it is a health necessity. Sleep disorders can impair your ability to sleep and maintain good health. Sleep apnea, insomnia and other sleep disorders often go undiagnosed - but these disorders can have serious side effects.

If you have trouble falling or staying asleep, or you wake up feeling tired, you may be suffering from insomnia. Insomnia is a symptom and may be caused by stress, anxiety, depression or medication side effects. Providence sleep experts say if insomnia lasts for three weeks or more, it may be time to see a sleep specialist.

Respiratory therapist Al Cady, manager of Providence Hood River’s new sleep clinic, will conduct the session. Cady is an impassioned speaker on the subject, having personally suffered from sleep disorders and experienced a positive life change through treatment. “It is my mission to diagnose people with sleeping disorders so they can be cured,” he says. “I have been cured, and it has changed my life.” Cady will explain common sleep problems, symptoms and treatments and will guide attendees through the hospital’s new sleep lab.

Registration is required for this free seminar. Call Providence Hood River Community Education, 541-386-2055.
