2004 President's Award Received

Providence Hood River’s ‘Simply the Best’ Takes Honor

Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital was rewarded recently for its ongoing efforts to become the best small, rural hospital in the United States for patient satisfaction. The local health facility's service excellence program, "Simply the Best," received the first-ever Providence Health System President’s Award for Excellence.

The President’s Award was established to recognize the exceptional efforts underway throughout Providence Health System to reach higher levels of operational excellence. Providence Hood River is part of Providence’s four-state West Coast network of hospitals and long term care, assisted living and housing facilities.

Projects submitted for consideration covered a wide range of quality and clinical improvements in-patient care, customer service, and financial stewardship.

The “Simply the Best” project was honored specifically for its groundbreaking cultural changes which, in less than two years, have dramatically improved customer, physician, and employee satisfaction at Providence Hood River. The project involved all hospital employees, from top leadership to support staff in every department.

Two other Providence facilities also received 2004 President’s Awards, including Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska, for its Surgical Infection Prevention Project and Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California, for its Cardiovascular Performance Improvement Task Force.
