TWO FOR TWO AND FIVE FOR FIVE;
PROVIDENCE KEEPS LEADING THE WAY IN NATIONAL HEALTH CARE SURVEY

PORTLAND, Ore. — It’s a success story that just keeps on going.
Verispan, a national health care research firm, has just announced that Providence Health System – Oregon Region is fourth in the nation on its survey of “Top 100 Integrated Health Networks.” Verispan surveys 566 health systems across the nation to compile the “Top 100” ranking. This is the second straight year PHS Oregon has been ranked in Verispan’s top five and the fifth consecutive year it has made the top 10.

“This latest recognition confirms our commitment to providing integrated health care. We focus on such things as the best ways to provide medical information, keeping our technology on the cutting edge and developing an outstanding group of physicians, nurses and caregivers,” said Russ Danielson, chief executive, PHS Oregon. “By doing that, we are able provide the highest quality care for our patients.”

Verispan is based in Yardley, Pa. It looks at eight key categories in compiling the “Top 100” listing: integration, integrated technology, hospital utilization, financial stability, physicians, service and access, contract capabilities and outpatient utilization.

The top three organizations on the Verispan list were in a virtual tie for first place. Their scores were all within 0.38 points of each other. Intermountain Health Care, based in Salt Lake City, took the number one spot for the fourth year in a row. The other two organizations are ProMedica Health System of Toledo, Ohio and Sentara Healthcare of Norfolk, Va.
PHS Oregon was also the top-ranked health system in the Northwest. Complete survey results are available at www.verispan.com.
