Faith in Action Program

Sponsored by Providence Marianwood

Mission Statement
Faith in Action is a network of trained volunteers who provide assistance, education, referral and support for the vulnerable and elderly of Issaquah, the Sammamish Plateau and the Greater Snoqualmie Valley areas. We strive to help people remain independent in their communities and maintain their sense of worth and dignity.

Whom Do We Serve?
The program seeks to serve the vulnerable and elderly of the Greater Issaquah, Sammamish Plateau, and Snoqualmie Valley areas. There are no age or income restrictions and people are served regardless of race or creed. However, our services are not designed for personal or medical care.

Who Volunteers?
Congregational members who wish to live out their faith through service to others. Caring individuals and community groups also contribute. All volunteers are screened and receive valuable training and support.

Who Requests Services?

  • Concerned families, friends or neighbors
  • Congregation members
  • Health care or social service agencies and organizations
  • Frail or vulnerable individuals

Services
Our volunteers will provide:

  • Socialization for isolated persons
  • Respite care for family caregivers
  • Help with transportation
  • Light housekeeping
  • Yard work
  • Simple home maintenance
  • Assistance with shopping

Goals
Through the providing of these free services we hope to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Decreased isolation and improved access to services
  • Maintained and enhanced independence
  • Happier, healthier family caregivers
  • A more caring and sensitive community

Funding
Faith in Action Issaquah services are free of charge and there are no Providence Marianwood funds to offset its cost. Grants, congregation support and private donations help fund this program. All contributions are welcome and needed to ensure this extraordinary program will continue to offer much needed caregiving support in East King County.
