ADMISSION
The first step in your hospitalization process is to be admitted as a patient. It is Providence’s policy to admit and care for all patients regardless of race, color, religious preference or national origin.
An Admitting representative will help you complete required forms. All personal information is kept strictly confidential. A plastic ID band is placed on your wrist. You must wear your patient ID band until you are discharged.
When you arrive at your room, your nurse will explain how the bed works, how to use the call system, TV, and phone, and where to store your belongings. All patient rooms are equipped with color TV sets at no additional charge. Out of consideration for others, we do ask that you keep the volume low.
Do not bring valuables to the Medical Center. Leave all jewelry at home or have it placed in the hospital safe. Keep only small change with you. The hospital cannot assume responsibility for the loss of money or other valuables kept in your room. Bring as few personal items as possible. Suggestions include a bathrobe, slippers, and toiletry articles. Eyeglasses, dentures, and hearing aids need special care during your stay to protect them from loss or breakage. Always keep them in a safe place when not in use.
Electrical devices such as curling irons, radios, and heating pads can interfere with patient care and safety. Please leave them at home. Please notify your nurse immediately about any electrical items you wish to use during your stay. Cell phones are prohibited in patient care areas. Please advise your visitors of this rule as well.
Do not bring any medication from home. Your doctor will order any medication you will need during your stay. Make a list of all medications you take, including the strength and how often you take them. This includes all prescribed medications and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal products you use.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask your nurse.
