What happens, step by step, when I come to donate?
First, you will read some information and decide if you should give blood today.
Second, you will be asked to fill-out the Blood Donor Record with your name, address, phone numbers, etc., and answer some questions about your medical history. We will also need to see your Driver's License or another Picture ID (Employee ID, School ID or Passport). Please go ahead and sign the consent on the back of the form. By signing, you are saying that you have read and understood the information presented and that you have honestly answered all the questions. It also allows us to draw a unit of blood from you, provided you pass the Medical Screening.
Third, we will ask you questions about your personal history. This is a confidential Medical Screening, performed by one of our trained staff. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask at this time. We will also be checking your temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and take a little blood from your finger to make sure it is safe for you to donate today (iron level).
Fourth, we will take you into the Donor Room to donate your unit, then give you cookies and juice while you relax after the procedure.
I want to donate! Please call (800) 469-9555 for more information.
