Providence Regional Cancer Centers and the Providence Saint Joseph Diagnostic Center combine their collective medical expertise to offer the Valley's most advanced techniques available for diagnosing and treating lung cancer.
If you have a family history of lung cancer or are a current or former smoker, you should schedule a low-dose computed tomography scan, better known as a CT Scan. This test can detect tumors as small as a grain of rice, dramatically increasing the detection of lung cancer, speeding the course of treatment and, ultimately, improving patient survival. A CT Scan takes about 30 seconds to complete and exposes the patient to minimal radiation. Recent studies from Cornell University estimate that routine CT Scan screenings may boost survival rates from 12 to 15 percent to as high as 80 percent.
