Providence Laboratory uses a system of policies and procedures that ensures the highest quality tests results. Under a quality-assurance system, guidelines are in place for specimen collection, transportation, processing and analysis as well as reporting. Providence Laboratory takes great pride in our ability to avoid service failures and issues with lost specimens.

Facilities and Resources
Providence Laboratory has the facilities to provide quality services in our well-designed laboratory, with state-of-the-art automated testing equipment complemented by equipment that performs modern molecular diagnostic tests, such as in situ hybridization, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry.

Technical Expertise
As a hospital-based program, Providence Laboratory recruits only highly trained personnel. The staff’s educational background and experience is enhanced through continuing education. Expert pathologists provide support to the personnel to ensure the highest quality of service.

Quality-Control Procedures
Providence Laboratory maintains strict technical protocols to control the accuracy and precision of the test results.  These include pre-analytical and analytical variables as well as the monitoring of the Pathology Proficiency Testing program, which provides an independent assessment of test performance. The laboratory is accredited by the Commission on Inspection and Accreditation of Laboratories of the College of American Pathologists and is approved to provide laboratory services by the Center for Medicare Services, Food and Drug Administration, American Association of Blood Banks, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, California Department of Health Services, California State Department of Biologics and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act.  Providence Laboratory also has been accredited with Distinction by the College of American Pathologists.
