Robotics
The da Vinci Surgical System Fund is restricted for revenue donated during the $1.6 million da Vinci robotic surgery system campaign. All funds raised will be given to Providence Medford Medical Center (PMMC) for the purchase of the technology. Training, maintenance and additional costs associated with the use and benefits of da Vinci will be managed by PMMC. The system provides surgeons with an alternative to both traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy. Patient benefits includes reduced blood loss, length of stay for post care, reduced surgical sites, less pot-procedure pain, effective tumor control, and results related to nerve damage.
Hospice/Home Care
Providence Hospice is a compassionate program of care for families and patients facing a terminal or life-threatening illness, with a focus on comfort and quality of life versus aggressive diagnostic treatment and therapies. Honor memorial donations are a meaningful method of paying tribute to deceased friends and family members. Donations are also a method of thanking care providers. Home Health provides skilled in-home services to patients of all ages as a transition following hospitalization and as a cost-effective alternative to inpatient care.
Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center
Comprehensive services in a caring environment at the Center include mammography, ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, lymphedema therapy, bone densitometry and the support of a patient advocate. The center has state-of-the-art technology including digital imaging and computer-aided detection.
Sister Therese Kohles Charitable Mammography
This fund helps patients access services provided at the Providence Breast Center by providing financial assistance to those who qualify. The fund supports mammograms, radiology reading and follow-up ultrasound.
Mother Gamelin Fund
This fund was established to support the mission of serving the poor and vulnerable. It provides a wide variety of basic needs for indigent patients and their families such as food, clothing, transportation, shelter and prescriptions.
Cancer Center
The Providence Cancer Center combines the most advanced technology and skilled physicians with the support of a full-service medical center. The outpatient clinic includes radiation therapists, registered dietitians, case managers, spiritual care chaplains, a library and education center.
Cancer Center Medication Assistance Fund
This fund provides financial assistance for qualified patients who need medications that treat symptoms related to chemo and radiation therapy.
Kids Health Connection
This is an elementary school-based health center program that serves to improve the health of children by providing primary care, urgent care, mental health care, health education and coordination of needed health care services.
Support of the Hospital/Greatest Need
Throughout the year the hospital has a variety of capital and charitable needs that are not included in the annual budget. When possible the Foundation provides support through unrestricted donations in this fund.
Providence Medford Medical Center Nursing Education
This fund was established to support the nursing staff in maintaining skills and keeping professional certifications current. The fund may be used for education, professional conferences and licensing fees.
Walk of Life
This fund is for the purchase of commemorative bricks on the Walk of Life outside BirthPlace. Bricks may serve as an honor memorial for a friend or loved one that has passed away or as a tribute to a special person.
Lifeline
Lifeline is an easy-to-use personal response service that ensures that older adults living at home get quick assistance whenever it is needed, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This fund pays for the purchase of equipment or for scholarships for those with financial need.
Medication Assistance Program
The Medication Assistance Program (MAP) is a service provided by Providence Medford Medical Center to assist indigent care patients in securing free medications from drug manufacturers for chronic conditions. Approximately $2 million worth of drugs were secured for the indigent care population in 2005.
Rehabilitative Services
Providence Regional Rehabilitation Center is the only comprehensive rehab facility in Southern Oregon and it provides both inpatient and outpatient care. Some of the many diagnoses that are treated at the Center include spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, lower extremity amputees, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and balance impairments.
Cardiac Services
The Providence Heart and Vascular Institute in Medford offers care for individuals with heart and vascular problems. Diagnostic procedures such as echocardiography, cardiac and peripheral vascular angiography, vascular ultrasound, and nuclear medicine studies are performed, as well as interventional procedures for patients with peripheral vascular disease. Later in 2006, the program will expand to provide cardiac surgical services such as coronary artery bypass surgery, and interventional cardiology services such as balloon angioplasty and stents. In addition, patients also have access to world-renowned experts in the field of heart and vascular disease through the Providence Heart and Vascular Institute in Portland, OR.
Birthplace
Providence BirthPlace offers personal, family-centered maternity care in a serene setting supported by the best technology. Due to the rapidly growing volume of patients seen at the Center, BirthPlace is currently undergoing a remodel and expansion that will include state of the art birthing rooms and surgery suites. This fund also provides support for baby safety features, educational materials and ongoing assistance for patients after delivery.
Swindells Center Fund
The Jean Baton Swindells Resource Center for Children and Families connects families, caregivers and friends of children with disabilities to resources, information and training. Families come to the Swindells Center seeking answers to many of the questions that surface in their everyday lives. We offer resources specific to disabilities and conditions, as well as information on respite options, recreation, educational options and other day to day issues.
