BirthPlace Aesthetic Upgrade Complete

Providence BirthPlace, funded by the Foundation, opened its doors in 2005. Approximately 10 years later, when many OB Gyn physicians were considering leaving the valley due to the high cost of practicing in this community, Providence worked with the physicians to establish the Providence Medical Group OB Gyn Clinic on the hospital campus.

This resulted in increased deliveries at Providence BirthPlace, making it necessary to expand the birthing center. The expansion was completed in 2007 and the remodel and upgrade of the original BirthPlace, designed to coordinate with the expansion, was completed in February 2008. The Foundation committed $2.75 million to the project.

Some of the upgrades include new furniture, window treatments, carpet and floors, wall coverings, cabinetry, and lighting. New gliders were purchased and baby bath sinks were built into each room. A new front desk was built at the entrance, and a children's play area and televisions were added to the waiting area. In addition a classroom for parenting education classes was added.
