MEDFORD, Ore (02/28/05) -- Providence Medford Medical Center is celebrating the installation of its newest imager for reading x-ray films with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, March 11 at 11:00am. The 8900 Network Imager is a donation from Eastman Kodak Company in White City, and is part of an ongoing business partnership between Providence and Kodak.
The new imager is the second donation of leading-edge technology from Eastman Kodak Company. In 2003, the company donated a digital mammography imager to the Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center at PMMC. “These donations are of benefit to our patients and our staff,” says Mike Baker, Director of Diagnostic Imaging at PMMC. “Not only does this technology improve workflow in our radiology department, but the new imager in the Breast Center improves the capability of critical diagnosis.”
The business partnership is mutually beneficial. “Providence provides Kodak with valuable feedback for improving current products, and with information to help the company determine future product and service needs of the radiology industry,” says Brian Melchiori, Eastman Kodak Company Plant Manager. Providence is the first to use new x-ray film developed by Kodak. “Our radiologists are the eyes in the field,” says Baker. “They’re able to do side-by-side comparisons of old and new products.”
The exchange of technology is not the only collaboration between PMMC and Eastman Kodak Company. Providence provides an on-site Occupational Medicine nurse at Kodak’s White City plant, as well as healthcare education speakers for the company’s brown-bag lunch series.
