 Prenatal Care and Education
Prenatal care is important to your health and the health of your newborn. Arrange a visit with your physician or midwife as soon as you learn you're pregnant. To help prepare for the arrival of a baby, we offer classes including childbirth education, newborn care and breastfeeding. Classes meet at Providence Medford Medical Center. Call 732-6717 for more information and to register.
Birth Plan Profile
During the last month of your pregnancy, we encourage you to meet with one of our nurses to develop your Birth Plan Profile. We will answer questions and help you personalize your birth experience to make choices that are right for you.
Labor & Delivery
During your labor, a highly skilled nurse will assist you and your support person with relaxation techniques and provide information and reassurance. Cesarean births, when necessary, are performed in the BirthPlace surgical suite.
Pain Control
Pain management during childbirth is about patient choice and you may change your choice of pain management at any time. We want to meet your goal for a gentle birth. Early patient-controlled epidural anesthesia is available and all pain medication options are discussed during your Birth Plan Profile meeting.
Your Room
You will be in your own comfortable and spacious Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum suite during your entire experience. Your baby stays in the room with you and we encourage your support person to stay as well. In addition to the latest birthing room technology, your room is furnished with a guest daybed, color flat screen TV, DVD player, dining area and rocking chair.
Special Care Nursery
A state-of-the-art special care nursery is located in Providence BirthPlace. Highly trained doctors and nurses are on staff to care for babies who need special support.
