Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center at
Providence Medford Medical Center
A caring, convenient and private setting for breast diagnostic and related services
The Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center at Providence Medford Medical Center addressed an urgent and critical need for increased diagnostic capabilities and comprehensive services in the region. Since its opening, the wait time for scheduled mammogram appointments has been reduced from a critical 4-6 months to just 2 days, with same day diagnostic slots available, and ultrasound back-up minutes away. The Center received a 100% Food and Drug Administration site survey score, 98% overall patient satisfaction rate and has become a model for 43 other health care sites.

Each year 220,000 individuals in the United States receive the news that they have breast cancer. The disease affects one in eight women over their lifetime and claims over 40,000 lives yearly. According to the American Cancer Society, early detection of breast cancer in Stage 0 or Stage 1 can result in a 95% survival rate. Yet, in Jackson County, one-third of breast cancer patients are diagnosed in later stages.
Knowing that imaging technology is the best tool for early breast cancer detection, Providence Health System developed its vision for Women’s Health Services to include advanced diagnostic technology, treatment, and patient resource assistance.
