Dedicated Nursing Staff
Providence Medford Medical Center recently remodeled and dedicated a wing with all-private rooms in the medical center for spine surgery patients. Providence Spine Program nurses and staff receive on-going education in order to actively participate in patient recovery. Focus is placed on getting patients out of bed and walking as soon as possible to improve surgical outcomes. Nurses are familiar with the surgical procedures and are specially trained by the surgeon in specific patient care.
The patient is the most important member of the recovery team.
A strong emphasis is on patient education and involvement in the post-operative recovery process that includes diet, pain control, medication and walking program. The physicians and nursing staff at Providence Spine Program believe that patients who are educated and informed make better post-operative care decisions for themselves.
Future plans for the Spine surgery wing include a conference area, education area for patients before and after surgery, computer with Internet access and dining area to encourage patient activities of daily living.
