Providence Spine Program Services

Coordinated Referral & Care

Many people with neck and back pain often get treatment from a variety of providers before a complete diagnosis is made.

Spine patients benefit from a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with access to state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and surgical techniques. At Providence Spine Program, your first appointment is with a patient care coordinator who will assess your condition and connect you with a physician expert or physical therapist, depending on your specific need.

Our goal is to provide an individualized treatment plan that improves the condition and quality of life of each patient with the use of advanced and minimally invasive treatments. The Providence Spine Program streamlines and coordinates care by providing the best and most cost-effective therapeutic approach. From your initial visit through diagnosis, testing, treatment, and follow-up care, a multidisciplinary team provides coordinated care that is best suited to you.

Operative Treatments
If surgery is required for your treatment, Providence Medford Medical Center has a special east wing on the third floor dedicated to spine surgery patients. Registered nurses have been specially trained to care for spine patients.

Spine surgeons at Providence use the latest advanced technology and many patients who are candidates for new minimally invasive surgical techniques often go home in days with dramatic improvement.  View our Spine Program Tutorial featuring information about the program, XLIF procedure, and news stories.

Non-Operative Treatments
If it is determined that you can benefit from physical therapy you will be directed to Providence Spine Program physical therapy services where you will receive expert care and education.

Vocational Rehabilitation
If you injure your back at your place of work, Providence Spine Program will coordinate your care with Providence Center for Occupational Medicine. For more information or to contact the Providence Center for Occupational Medicine, call 732-5554.

Doctor-Assisted Pain Management and other services
Along with specific treatments, there are other resources available either in conjunction with or separate from the prescribed treatments such as interventional pain management, lifestyle modification, body mechanics and other education including stress management.

Spinal Imaging Services
If your doctor determines that you require additional tests for a complete assessment or pre-surgery imaging, Providence Medford Medical Center offers the latest advanced spine imaging technology.
