Memory Loss — Normal or Not?
Misplacing your car keys, losing your reading glasses, forgetting where you parked your car... it may be frustrating, but adults of all ages are occasionally forgetful. For older adults, retrieving memories may take longer, but some degree of forgetfulness is normal with aging. Providence Center on Aging and Providence Seaside Health & Lifestyle Center present this free community forum.

Michael Mega, M.D., Ph.D., has done extensive research in the area of brain mapping as it relates to Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. From 1999 to 2002, he served as the director of the Department of Imaging at the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at UCLA Medical Center.


What’s New in Diabetes Treatment
The Providence Seaside Out-Patient Diabetes Program presents a one-day diabetes seminar with Dr. James Neifing, renowned endocrinologist from Portland.

Come and listen to Dr. Neifing talk about the latest in diabetes research and treatments. Learn about the latest advances such as the newest insulins, oral agents, insulin pumps and organ transplants. Hear about the exciting things being done with islet cell research, and the artificial pancreas and glucose sensors. Questions and answers to follow. Come and learn something new about diabetes.

Speaker: James Neifing, M.D., endrocrinologist
James Neifing, MD, an internist as well as an endocrinologist, practices at Portland Diabetes and Endocrinology Center in Portland. Dr. Neifing is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology. He earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
