Safety and Security

The staff of Providence Milwaukie Hospital are always alert to ensuring your safety and security while you are hospitalized. To contact the Safety Department, please call extension 31950, or 503-513-1950 (outside the hospital). Otherwise, press "0" for the in-house operator.

Security Services

Our Security officers provide security services for the hospital and grounds. In addition to the Security staff, other hospital staff and volunteers also can help meet your security and safety needs.

Nonsmoking policy

Recognizing our responsibility to provide a safe and healthful environment for those we serve, Providence Milwaukie Hospital has a nonsmoking policy. Patients, visitors, staff and volunteers are not allowed to smoke within the hospital. Smoking is permitted only in these areas:

  • Across from the main hospital entrance where a sheltered area exists with a bench and ashtray.
  • At the north end of Parking Lot "D" (near the crosswalk to the Annex building).

Patients who are smokers will receive support from hospital staff during their smoke-free hospital stays. With physician approval, patients may go to the designated smoking area. Information on smoking cessation is available from your nurse.

Identification badges

All Providence Milwaukie Hospital staff members and volunteers wear a photo identification badge with their name and department clearly printed on it. If you do not see a badge on someone involved with your care, please don’t hesitate to ask about the person’s identity.
