Special Services

For hearing-impaired persons

A telecommunications device (TDD) is available for hearing-impaired patients or for patients who wish to communicate with a hearing-impaired relative or friend. All patient telephones include amplifiers in the handsets. We also can arrange for an American Sign Language interpreter to assist as needed, at no cost to the patient.

For sight-impaired persons

Signs throughout Providence Milwaukie Hospital include Braille translations. Seeing-eye dogs are welcome in the hospital. Any patient who would like an escort may contact a nurse, who will arrange for assistance.

Interpreters

The hospital has access to interpreters for a number of foreign languages and American Sign Language. This service is free of charge to patients.
