A midwife for every woman A CNM is a skilled health care professional educated in the advanced practice of both nursing and midwifery. Our CNMs are committed to responsive, individualized care during pregnancy and childbirth. Research has shown that this personal approach to women's health care translates to better birth outcomes and increased patient satisfaction. CNMs provide a guiding hand through all of our clients' pregnancy-related decisions, while remaining attentive to the balance between the health of unborn child and the mother. CNMs are also qualified to provide gynecological exams, birth control counseling, preconception care, and information on vaginal health and disease prevention. Providence Maternal Care Clinic believes that women caring for women is an essential part of what makes our midwives, staff, and clinic so special. Prenatal care Exceptional prenatal care is based on the foundation of a healthy mother and child. During prenatal appointments, CNMs will monitor the normal progression of pregnancy by providing information on pregnancy-related topics like nutrition, testing and other concerns as they arise. We cannot stress enough that prenatal health is about you and your unborn baby. Prenatal appointments are your time to get to know our CNM staff, ask questions, and receive resources and assistance. The best way to ensure a positive pregnancy and childbirth is to make every prenatal appointment count! Birth and beyond We understand that women need the most support during the labor and birth processes, so our CNMs remain with the mother throughout the entire experience. The patient plays an active role in the birth experience by deciding what kind of birth experience they want. The CNM can prescribe pain medication if the mother needs it. She also sees to the immediate care of the newborn and the start of breastfeeding. The mother receives follow-up appointments at the clinic two weeks and six weeks after the baby is born. Providence Maternal Care Clinic provides reproductive health care for women across their entire lifespan. Women's health care CNMs are qualified to provide the following variety of women's health-related services: annual exams, birth control counseling, prescriptions, follow-up examinations, disease prevention and breast exams. Our CNMs are an excellent choice for women looking for competent and compassionate care. Fees and insurance We are dedicated to being accessible to as many women as possible. We accept most insurance plans, including Oregon Health Plan. Patients can expect clinic staff to explain charges and costs, bill their insurance companies and refer them for assistance.
