Hospice is a special kind of care tailored to meet each individual resident and residents' family's needs and desires at the end of life. Providence Hospice addresses the needs of the whole person - including their physical, spiritual, emotional, social and family issues.
Care is provided by a specially trained and highly dedicated team, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Providence Hospice serves patients in private homes, nursing homes, assisted living and residential care facilities and foster homes.
It takes a special person to help when the moments are most sensitive. If you'd like to learn how to help people who are facing terminal illness, you are invited to attend our free hospice volunteer training course, starting on June 19. There is a special need for hospice volunteers who are fluent in Spanish or Russian.
Conference will address guardianship, legal duties and boundaries Professional guardians, conservators, elder law attorneys, social workers, case managers and chaplains are invited to attend a half-day conference, "Protect Your Clients While Protecting Yourself," on June 4 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
Radio interview focuses on grief KXL radio hosts discuss causes and stages of grief with Providence grief educator Anne Kister. Hear why people react differently to loss, why there is no timeframe for the expression of grief, and how people can heal from the pain of loss.
A bereavement support group now meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at Providence Milwaukie Hospital. Free of charge, this group is led by a grief counselor to help people deal with the pain and turmoil after losing a loved one.
