Providence Brain Institute Welcomes New Physician; Providence Employees Honored

PROVIDENCE STROKE CENTER WELCOMES NEUROLOGIST
Nicholas J. Okon, D.O., joined Providence Stroke Center after helping to create a nationally certified primary stroke center in Billings, Mont. Dr. Okon earned his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, performed his residency in neurology at University of Chicago, and completed a fellowship in cerebrovascular disease at the University of Texas, Houston Stroke Program. Dr. Okon’s office is located in Mother Joseph Plaza on the Providence St. Vincent Campus, 9427 S.W. Barnes Road, Suite 595. Patients wishing to schedule an appointment should call 503-216-2346.

PROVIDENCE ST. VINCENT PHARMACIST HONORED
Gerry Migaki was recently selected as Oregon Hospital Pharmacist of the Year at the annual seminar of the Oregon Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Migaki has worked as a pharmacist at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center for nearly 35 years. He was hired as pharmacy intern in 1974 – and never left. The Oregon Society of Health-System Pharmacists is a professional pharmacy organization that advocates excellence in pharmacy practice.

PARISH HEALTH OUTREACH DIRECTOR NAMED EMERGING LEADER
Vision Action Network has named Adele Hughes as an emerging leader for this year’s Cameron Award for Outstanding Community Collaboration. Hughes is the Parish Health Outreach Director for Providence Health & Services for Providence St. Vincent. Hughes and three additional award winners will be honored at the Vision Action Network’s Annual Celebration, Tuesday, June 2 from 3:30 – 5 p.m. at Portland Community College’s Rock Creek Campus.
