WHAT: Providence Heart and Vascular Institute offers Washington County Forum lunch lesson: “Cardiology 101 – What You Need to Know about Heart Disease.”
WHEN: Noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4
WHERE: Washington County Forum
Beaverton Elks Club
3500 S.W. 104th Ave., Beaverton
DETAILS: Cardiovascular disease remains the number one killer of Americans. The disease does not discriminate either; one in every three men and one in every two women lose their lives to heart disease. In addition, 70 million Americans live with the potentially crippling effects of the disease every day.
During his presentation, Providence Heart and Vascular Institute cardiologist James Beckerman, M.D., will explain the basics of heart disease and prevention. Dr. Beckerman will review risk factors, those that can not be changed – gender, family history, and those that can be – smoking, diet, exercise. Dr. Beckerman will also share how physicians approach the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
The presentation is free, but attendees are encouraged to buy lunch as it covers the cost for the room. The presentation will begin at noon, the doors open at 11:30 a.m. for lunch. The program will be videotaped and shown at a later date on Tualatin Valley Community Television, a community access cable station.
