DETAILS: Cardiologist Alicia Ross, M.D., discusses metabolic syndrome, a group of risk factors related to being overweight or obese, which poses a serious health risk to more and more Americans. Almost 25 percent of Americans are affected, placing them at greater risk for heart disease, diabetes and stroke. As the incidence continues to rise, metabolic syndrome may overtake smoking as the leading risk factor for heart disease in the United States. The good news is that risks can be reduced by watching your waistline and living healthier.

This presentation is a part of the Providence Heart and Vascular Institute’s free community education lectures. For more information and to register to attend, call Providence Resource Line at 503-574-6595.
