PORTLAND, Ore. - Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and the American Cancer Society have joined forces to offer Portland’s first joint in-hospital resource center. Situated in Providence St. Vincent’s new Integrated Cancer Center, the resource center offers books, printed brochures and computer terminals with Internet connections which cancer patients, caregivers and family members can use to help guide their journey through cancer treatment.
The Cancer Resource Center is staffed by volunteers, many of whom are cancer survivors themselves. “People facing a cancer diagnosis, especially if it’s a bad diagnosis, can find hope by seeing others who have made it through treatment,” says Laurie Skokan, PhD, director of quality, data and integrative medicine for Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
The Cancer Resource Center is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
