Celebrating 26 years of working wonders!

Providence Festival of Trees is the premier holiday event in Portland. Stroll through our village streets as you survey over 80,000 lights on more than 30 exquisitely decorated trees! Vote for your favorite tree in the festival’s first “People’s Choice Award” contest. Create holiday memories by having a photo with Santa. Trees and Holiday Displays

A timeless and ageless tradition for everyone, Providence Festival of Trees will dazzle you with more than 100 elaborately decorated Christmas trees, mini-trees, wreaths and holiday displays.

Trees. The Festival owes much of its success to the many decorators who create these one-of-a-kind items. Decorator teams are employees of sponsoring companies, members of local clubs and organizations, and employees and volunteers of Providence Health & Services. Many of the trees glow with 2,500 to 3,500 lights and include gift packages ranging from exotic trips to collectible toys for all ages. Each tree is auctioned off at the Gala Dinner and Auction to benefit Providence Health & Services programs including Medication Assistance, Gately Academy, Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children and more. For a complete list of beneficiaries, visit the Beneficiaries page.

Mini-trees, Wreaths and Decorations. Holiday decorating wouldn't be the same without a wreath on the door or above the mantel. These fantastic pieces along with other unique decorations can be found on display. Gather ideas for your own holiday décor, get tips from the experts at our Demonstrations Stage or simply admire the artists' work.

Vote for you favorite tree. Pick up your ballot at the Festival Information Booth and vote for your favorite tree. The winners will be announced each day at the Festival and on the Festival Web site following the event.

Activities

Beautiful trees... and so much more to do! The lights and decorations on the trees will dazzle you, but there's so much more to do at the Festival to make your visit complete. Shop for a unique book. Have a picture taken with Santa and be sure the children send an e-mail message to one of his elves. Children will have a wonderful time exploring the "no pokes" hospital experience as they take their gift bear through the Providence Teddy Bear Hospital. There is much more to see and do for all ages!

Demonstrations Stage

Take home some ideas of your own from our talented volunteer decorators. This year’s stage will feature three demonstrations each day.

Teddy Bear Hospital

Children age 12 and under are invited to visit the Teddy Bear Hospital – a fun, interactive place where they learn about their health and hospitals in a safe, "no pokes" environment from real doctors, nurses and caregivers. Each child will receive a free teddy bear as they are "admitted" to the hospital. Their journey through the Ambulance, the Emergency Room, the Operating Room and the Doctor's Office Check Up help build confidence and alleviate fears. Their "patient" teddy bear is theirs to take home and treasure this holiday season and for years to come.

Model Trains

What would the holidays be without the magic and wonder of toy trains? The Festival features a wonderful model train display that adds just the right Christmas flavor for boys and girls of all ages.

Gingerbread Houses

Thanks to the students of Franklin High School, the Festival features a display of more than 50 wonderful gingerbread houses.

Light Up a Life Tree

Memories of loved ones can light up our lives throughout the year. Your contribution to Light Up a Life will help Providence meet the needs of hospice patients and their families while giving you a heartfelt way to pay tribute to a loved one. The name of the person you are celebrating will be written on a heart-shaped ornament and placed on the Light Up a Life tree at the Festival. After the event, ornaments will be transferred to the tree at the hospital you designate. The name of the person you are celebrating will be read as part of a ceremony at the hospital you have selected.
