Robert Bailey, M.D.
Board Certified: Internal Medicine
Dr. Bailey believes that his most important role as a primary care provider is to get to know his patients, and to help them get to know more about their health. “The more patients know about their condition, the better they are able to manage it,” he says. “My role is to advise and educate.” Dr. Bailey emphasizes health screening and risk factor modification in his practice. He also has a special interest in geriatric care.
Born and raised in LaGrande, Dr. Bailey earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry at Eastern Oregon College. He earned his medical degree at Oregon Health Sciences University, and completed his internship and residency at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and Health Center in Portland. He is board certified in internal medicine.
In his free time, Dr. Bailey enjoys cycling, backpacking and woodworking.
Kevin Carpenter, M.D.
Board Certified: Family Medicine
Dr. Carpenter's goal as a primary care physician is to provide thorough and compassionate health care to the whole family. In his practice he deals with the entire spectrum of health issues, with added emphasis on prevention, pediatrics and sports medicine.
After earning his medical degree at Oregon Health Science University, Dr. Carpenter completed his internship and residency at Elgin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. “During my years in the Air Force, I was able to gain valuable experience in taking care of families,” he says. “The birth of my son has also helped me gain an appreciation for the family unit.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Carpenter focuses his time and energy on his church and family.
Sunita Madhukar Deshmukh, M.D.
Board Certified: Internal Medicine, Geriatrics
Dr. Deshmukh wants her patients to be involved in their medical care, saying her most important role as a physician is “to provide patients with the necessary information and tools to resolve their health care issues while giving them the necessary support.”
Board certified in both internal medicine and geriatrics, Dr. Deshmukh earned her medical degree at B.J. Medical College in Pune, India. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in geriatrics at Staten Island University Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Deshmukh also maintains a holistic philosophy in her practice. “I understand the importance of listening to my patients and dealing with their health care needs as a whole person,” she says.
When away from her practice, Dr. Deshmukh enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, reading and cooking.
Jon Hobson, M.D.
Board Certified: Internal Medicine
A board certified internal medicine physician, Dr. Hobson offers patients the added advantage of a naturopathic point of view. He graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine before going on to complete his medical degree, internship and residency at Oregon Health & Science University. As a result, he says, “I am personally open to any therapy that is truly effective.”
“Seeing life through the twin eyes of humor and art help me to apply the science of medicine to individual patients,” says Dr. Hobson. He emphasizes prevention, early diagnosis of illness, and treatment of any problem that interferes with a high quality of life. “The most rewarding aspect of my work is helping patients achieve and maintain their highest possible potential in mental and physical health,” he says.
Dr. Hobson’s wife is an obstetrician and gynecologist. They have three daughters.
Mary Meadows, M.D.
Board Certified: Family Medicine
Dr. Meadows enjoys providing comprehensive medical care to family members of all ages. She takes a special interest in women’s health and adolescent medicine. In the physician-patient partnership, she works as an advocate for her patients, providing preventive education, information and support to help her patients make wise health decisions. “Forming close, lasting relationships with my patients is the most rewarding aspect of my work,” she says.
Dr. Meadows graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Northwestern University in Evanston,Ill., before continuing on to medical school at Northwestern in Chicago. Shecompleted her residency in family practice at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Ill.Dr. Meadows has additional certifications in advanced cardiac, pediatric andneonatal life support.
In her free time, Dr. Meadows enjoys hiking, biking, camping and photography.
Camille Pajarillo, M.D.
Board Certified: Family Medicine
Dr. Pajarillo likes to think of her patients as partners when it comes to their health care. “My philosophy of care involves building trusting partnerships with my patients,” she says. “By providing patients with all the facts about their condition, they can make well-informed decisions about their course of treatment.”
Born and raised in the Philippines, Dr. Pajarillo attended medical school at Far Eastern University in Manila. She completed her residency at Central Washington Family Medicine in Yakima.
Away from her medical practice, Dr. Pajarillo enjoys spending time with her husband, participating in church activities, traveling and enjoying the food at Portland’s “variety of superb restaurants.”
Julie Paquette, M.D.
Board Certified: Family Medicine
Dr. Paquette enjoys working in partnership with her patients, acting as an advisor and advocate so they can make the best health care decisions for their particular life situation. “It’s important to me to care for patients with compassion and respect,” she says, “and to remember that each individual patient brings their own life experiences and expectations.”
Board certified in family practice, Dr. Paquette earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. She completed her internship in family practice at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash.
Originally from a small town in Minnesota, Dr. Paquette moved to the Pacific Northwest for her medical residency training. Away from her practice, she enjoys gardening, hiking, and travel, as well as spending time with her friends and family.
Ellen Schiaffino-Purvis, M.D.
Board Certified: Internal Medicine, Geriatrics
Board-certified in both internal medicine and geriatrics, Dr. Schiaffino-Purvis works with adults of all ages. “Establishing trusting relationships with my patients and working with them toward the mutual goals of physical and mental well-being are the most rewarding aspects of my work,” she says. She emphasizes open communication and education in both prevention and treatment efforts to allow her patients to participate more effectively in their care.
Dr. Schiaffino-Purvis earned her medical degree at Newcastle Medical University in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at New Rochelle Hospital Medical Center in New York. She also completed a two-year geriatrics fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Schiaffino-Purvis enjoys fly fishing, music and model railroads.
