 | Kristy Butler, Pharm.D. Board Certified: Pharmacotherapy | Dr. Butler feels her most important role as a primary care clinical pharmacy specialist is to help her patients better understand their ailments and how they can best manage them through medications and life-style changes. “I listen to my patients – what they do, what they want or don’t want, what their goals from therapy are – to find the best medications for them and their health problem.”
After receiving a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Oregon State University, Dr. Butler earned her doctorate in pharmacy through a joint program administered by Oregon State University and Oregon Health & Science University. She completed her specialty residency training in primary care pharmacy with Providence Medical Group.
“I enjoy working directly with my patients and helping them feel better,” shesays. “I also enjoy the opportunity to educate patients, doctors and otherhealth care team members.” |
 | Dawn Fuke, Pharm.D. Board Certified: Pharmacotherapy | Dr. Fuke chose to become a primary care clinical pharmacy specialist because she has a strong belief in preventative care and enjoys the opportunity to closely interact with both patients and health care providers. “I believe that the primary care environment is the best place to impact a patient’s long-term care by emphasizing preventative medicine,” she says.
Additionally, Dr. Fuke believes in the importance of education in the overall care of a patient’s condition. “I want my patients to understand how medication management along with lifestyle change can improve their health.”
Dr. Fuke earned her doctorate in pharmacy at Oregon Health & Science University. She completed her specialty residency training in primary care pharmacy with Providence Medical Group.
Born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii, Dr. Fuke moved to Oregon to attend college. Among her hobbies are cooking, crafts, gardening and playing piano. |
 | Heather Miller, Pharm.D. Board Certified: Pharmacotherapy | Dr. Miller believes good health care is achieved best with a team approach that includes the patient, physician, pharmacist and nurse, as well as other health care disciplines. Each member plays an integral part in managing the patient’s health and well-being. “I really enjoy the interaction with my patients and their physician,” she says. “I strive to provide valuable education to the patient, which empowers them to participate in their own health care.” After majoring in zoology and physiology as an undergraduate at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Dr. Miller went on to earn her doctor of pharmacy degree from the same school. She completed her general pharmacy practice residency with Providence Health & Services, and her residency in primary care with Providence Medical Group. Raised in Wyoming, Dr. Miller enjoys most outdoor recreational activities, including hiking and fishing. She also likes to unwind with a good book. |
 | Ginger Pape, Pharm.D. Board Certified: Pharmacotherapy | Dr. Pape feels her most important role as a primary care clinical pharmacy specialist is to help patients better understand and manage their medications. “Many patients have multiple, chronic health issues that require several medications,” she says. “I work with the patient and the physician to assure that the patient is receiving the right medications, at the right doses, for the right reasons.”
Dr. Pape earned her doctor of pharmacy degree at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., and completed her specialty residency training in primary care family medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle.
“I decided on primary care pharmacy because I enjoy working closely withpatients and their families,” states Dr. Pape. “As the number ofmedications continue to increase every year, the primary care setting offersme a unique opportunity to impact patients’ health.” |
