Get the best possible care

To make sure you get the best, safest care possible, we need some important information about you. Before you come to the hospital for surgery, please complete and bring with you a copy of this medication history form and the health summary form. If the patient is a child aged 13 years or younger, the parent or guardian should complete the pediatric CAD instead of the health summary. Your safety and your health are important to us.

Veteran health care executive William Sherer named assistant administrator for medicine

William “Bill” Sherer, a health care executive with 22 years of experience, is the new assistant administrator for medicine for Providence Health & Service’s Portland service area. Lisa Vance, administrator of Providence Portland Medical Center, made the announcement February 15, 2007.

New Patient E-mail Service Offered

Greetings and well wishes to hospitalized loved ones are now just a click away! A new service coordinated by PPMC volunteers allows patients to receive free e-mail messages. Volunteers will do their best to deliver e-mails within 12 to 24 hours, Monday through Friday only.

Genetic Privacy law takes effect July 1

Effective July 1, a new Oregon law allows patients to decide whether they want their health information and biological samples to be available for anonymous and coded genetic research.

Providence Portland nurses are among the nation's very best

Providence Portland Medical Center has joined an elite group of only 2 percent of the nation’s hospitals by being named a nursing magnet hospital. Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and Providence Portland Medical Center were the first two magnet status hospitals in Oregon designated with this prestigious recognition.

Free shuttle service offered

Patients, visitors and employees of Providence Portland Medical Center can enjoy Providence's free shuttle service for those commuting via TriMet bus and MAX. Our wheelchair accessible vans run approximately every 20 minutes between the Hollywood Transit Center (NE 42nd and Halsey) and the medical facility, from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday.
