Programs & Services

Since 1968, Providence Milwaukie Hospital has expanded and increased services to meet the changing needs of our community. Providence Milwaukie is committed to caring for people throughout the cycle of life, including welcoming newborns, preventing illness, maintaining good health, providing acute care, managing declining health, and ensuring compassionate care for the dying. Recognized locally and nationally as a leading health care provider, Providence Milwaukie serves the needs of individuals with the following programs and services:

Staffed by a pharmacist, the Anticoagulation Clinic sees people who are taking anticoagulants. These medications, primarily warfarin (also known as Coumadin), slow down the body’s clotting process. The clinic offers quick, convenient 10-minute appointments five days a week and access to an on-call pharmacist at all hours.

Healing Touch is available to inpatients by appointment and at no charge.

Hospitalist Program

Hospitalists are experts in hospital care who work closely with primary care physicians. Our hospitalist physicians are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. So, the hospitalists are more available than other doctors to attend to patients promptly, especially if there is an emergency. Once admitted, patients are seen by the hospitalist who is most available to attend to the patient promptly and personally. Because of our round-the-clock service, a patient may see more than one hospitalist while here. We ensure that all members of the hospitalist team know every case well and can provide excellent care.

Laboratory

A full range of laboratory services are available 24 hours a day. Outpatient services are available 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday in the Providence Milwaukie Healing Place and within the hospital at all other hours. Board-certified pathologists, licensed medical technologists, medical laboratory technicians and phlebotomists work together to deliver services in a timely manner.

Medical/Surgical Unit

With 34 beds, the medical/surgical unit has highly trained professional staff available to meet the diverse needs of our patients. Families are encouraged to be active participants in patient care, and all members of the health care team place a special emphasis on meeting each patient’s personal needs.

The three-year program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and enrolls up to seven resident physicians each year. The Residency Program promotes lifelong learning of the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to provide high-quality care, especially to those most in need.

In addition to the hospital setting, the faculty and residents provide patient care at two family practice clinics: Providence Family Medicine – Milwaukie, and Providence Family Medicine – Southeast.
