Joining the Providence family
On Oct. 1, Willamette Falls Hospital officially became Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center. The affiliation completes a two-year process of careful consideration, due diligence, public input, and regulatory approval. "We are excited to move forward with this new partnership with Providence," said Russ Reinhard, PWFMC chief executive. “It means a lot to those of us who are dedicated to Willamette Falls and it means a lot to the continued health of our community.” New and established Providence employees will work closely to align all services, policies and divisions over the next several months.
Gala promises the unexpected
Providence Willamette Falls Medical Foundation is finishing preparations for the annual Gala at the Falls benefit, set for Saturday, Oct. 24. The 2009 fundraising goal for the event is $150,000, which will help support the start-up cost of a free clinic for uninsured members of the community. Bidding in the Online Auction has already begun; look for some surprises the night of the Gala, with this year's theme: "Expect the Unexpected."
Stereotactic breast biopsy technology on campus
The Women's Imaging Center at Willamette Falls recently added a stereotactic breast biopsy procedure room. Made possible in large part by a foundation campaign, which raised $170,000 in community and employee gifts, this technology uses specialized equipment for early detection of breast cancer, providing patients much faster results. This important new tool helps physicians identify and treat breast cancer in its initial stages and dramatically improves a woman's chances for a complete recovery.
Collaborative art gallery enters second year
Last fall, the hospital and Clackamas County Arts Alliance jointly unveiled a new art gallery along the hall between the emergency and diagnostic imaging departments. The gallery brings in new work each quarter, offering visitors a quiet viewing area while promoting local artists.
