The Family Practice Centers are the educational focus of the program. Residents are assigned to a Family Practice Center in the first year and are based at that FPC throughout the residency. Residents are scheduled at set times in the FPC for easy access by their continuity patients.
- R1 - 1-2 half-days/week
- R2 - 2-3 half-days/week
- R3 - 4-5 half-days/week
Providence Family Medicine - Southeast
This is an active, growing practice. This clinic is in an underserved area of Portland with a diverse clientele. The clinic has providers who are fluent in languages spoken by their patients and who are sensitive to patients' cultural expectations. Providence Family Medicine - Southeast accommodates two residents in each year (3-3-3).
Providence Family Medicine - Milwaukie
This Center is located on the Providence Milwaukie Hospital campus, in the Providence Milwaukie Healing Place medical office building. In the area surrounding the clinic, 17 percent of the population is over age 65, compared to a national average of 13 percent. The FPC patients reflect this demographic. There is also a strong emphasis on women's health. Providence Family Medicine - Milwaukie has four residents in each year (4-4-4).
