 James Chong, D.O.
Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine

James attended medical school at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine after completing his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and Biology studies at Portland State University and Walla Walla College in the Northwest. His many interests include running, hiking, camping, biking, softball, basketball, racquetball, tennis, chess and photography.

 

Brian Frank, M.D.
Oregon Health and Science University

Brian received his undergraduate degree in Theater Technology from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio prior to beginning his path to medical school at Oregon Health and Science University, which included receiving his Wilderness EMT Certification. Brian also enjoys cooking, singing, running, cycling and woodworking.

 

Joanna Hooper, M.D.
University of New Mexico

Joanna received her medical degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico after completing her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Grinnell College in Iowa. Joanna loves to travel and enjoys running and hiking with her dogs. Her other interests include yoga, weightlifting, swimming and reading.

 

Sharon McNeil, M.D.
Loma Linda University

Sharon comes to us from Loma Linda University after finishing her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Willamette University in Salem. She enjoys camping in the woods or at the beach with her husband and dog. She also likes creating interesting clay sculptures, playing Whiffle ball, cooking, gardening and singing.  Sharon told us some of her best times have been spent eating delicious and exotic foods and catching up with friends over coffee.

 

Lisa May Olson, M.D., M.P.H.
Oregon Health and Science University

Lisa comes to us from the Oregon Health and Science University after having completed her udergraduate degree at Stanford University in Human Biology. She also has her Masters in Public Health from Oregon Health and Science University with academic interests in family planning, obstetrical management and health care access.  In her downtime, she enjoys hiking, Italian cooking, yoga, swimming, cycling and surfing.

 

AnnMarie Overholser M.D.
Case Western Reserve Cleveland, Ohio

AnnMarie received her BA degree in Acient Greek from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts prior to her medical school training at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. For pleasure, AnnMarie plays the violin and guitar and likes to read. She also enjoys may outdoor activities, including running.

 

Sabine Volchok, M.D., M.P.H.
Oregon Health and Science University

Sabine joins us from the Oregon Health and Science University where she received her medical degree, along with her Master's of Public Health in Maternal & Child Health and Global Health.  Before entering OHSU she received a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the San Francisco College of Acupunture. Sabine completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Hamberg, Germany. She enjoys traveling and experiencing other cultures and takes pleasure in gardening, yoga, hiking, biking, camping and dancing.

Second Year

Adam Adler, M.D.
Oregon Health and Science University

Adam received his BA in American Studies from Reed College in Portland before entering medical school at Oregon Health and Science University. He speaks Spanish and some medical Cambodian and has used this knowledge clinically. A juggler who has performed and taught in the United States, Germany, Cambodia and Thailand — perfect for the medical profession with all our juggling of competing demands. He grew up backpacking and makes time for other outdoor activites like camping, hiking and biking. Adam is currently pursuing some musical ambitions in guitar, banjo and mandolin.

 

Kristin Burgher, M.D.
Georgetown University School of Medicine

Kristin attended medical school in Washington, D.C., after completing her undergraduate studies at Portland State University and receiving her BA in Political Science and French from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. She is proficient in Spanish as well as fluent in French and Haitian Creole. Kristin is very active with her church community and interested in social justice and human rights. She enjoys spending time with her family, knitting, sewing, singing and reading.

 

Rachelle Hanft, M.D.
Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine

Rachelle received her BS from the University of California at Davis in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior before entering medical school back east. Rachelle enjoys her “down time” with her husband, family and friends by going to the movies, cooking, backpacking/hiking and traveling. She stays physically active by working out and playing sports such as tennis and basketball.

 

Tracey Osterlund, M.D.
Oregon Health and Science University

Tracey completed her BS in Biology at the University of Portland before entering medical school at OHSU. She speaks some Spanish and German. Tracey has interests in travel, art history and reading. She keeps active with golf, alpine and cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking/camping and clam digging.

 

Heather Penny, M.D.
Oregon Health and Science University

Heather received her BS in Nutrition Science from Oregon State University as well as a BA in International Studies before entering medical school at Oregon Health and Science University. A Spanish speaker who studied Spanish language and Ecuadorian culture at the Pontificia Universidad in Quito, Ecuador. She is a native Oregonian who enjoys the many activities the Pacific Northwest offers including hiking, camping and enjoying ethnic eateries and food stores. She and her husband have an obscure affinity for visiting large roadside attractions. Heather also enjoys traveling outside the United States to developing countries that are full of adventure.

 

Breanna Percell, M.D.
Oregon Health and Science University

Breanna received her BS in Biology/Anthropology from Western Washington University in Bellingham before entering medical school at Oregon Health and Science University. Breanna has special interests in womens’ health, as well as designing and sewing quilts. She keeps physically active by running, skiing, camping and hiking with her two huskies. More recently, most of her free time is spent with her family.

 

Kerry Pulliam, M.D.
University of Wisconsin Medical School

Kerry received her BA in Theatre and Dance from Amherst College in Massachusetts before entering the University of Wisconsin Medical School. In addition to a number of dance styles (modern, swing, blues, bellydance and African), she also does aerial dance and acrobatics as well as keeping physically active by walking, biking, swimming and rock climbing.

Bergstrom

Christina Ng Bergstrom, M.D.
Tulane University New Orleans

Christina completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with majors in Chemistry and Chemical Biology before entering medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans.  Dr. Bergstrom speaks Spanish, French and Mandarin.  Her interests are dance, aikido, tai chi, and Zen Buddhism.

 

Bhat

Sumeeth Bhat, M.D.
Medical College of Wisconsin Milwaukee

Sumeeth completed his undergraduate training in Biology at the University of California in Riverside, California before entering medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is fully fluent in Konkani, partially fluent in Hindi, and still trying to learn Spanish.  He was the North American Konkani Youth Speaking Champion in 2002 that was held in Houston, Texas.  He enjoys foreign travel and just recently returned from an overseas mission to India.

 

Klein

Linda Klein, M.D.
Drexel University (formerly MCP Hahnemann) Philadelphia

Linda Klein completed her undergraduate in Biochemistry at the State University of New York at Stony Brook before entering Drexel University.  She enjoys scuba diving and is working to complete her advanced PADI training as a rescue diver.  She also enjoys off-shore sailing, kayaking, hiking, swimming and biking.  Other hobbies include sewing, jewelry design and furniture re-upholstery.

 

Massart

Mylynda Massart, M.D.
Oregon Health and Science University

Mylynda completed her undergraduate degree in Cell and Structural Biology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.  She entered the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she received her PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and also started medical school.  She completed her medical school  degree at Oregon Health and Sciences University.  She is fluent in French and enjoys cooking, travel and just spending time with her family.

 

Anjali Ohri, M.D.
University of Sint Eustatius

Anjali joined us as a PGY2 resident coming from the JPS Healthnetwork Residency Program in Fort Worth, Texas. After completing her medical school training at the University of Sint Eustatius, Netherlands Antilles. Her most rewarding aspect of Family Medicine is the ability to enable a patient to make positive lifestyle choices based on a clearer understanding of their physiological processes. Anjali enjoys writing, reading fiction, photography, traveling and cooking.

 

Park

So Yun Park, M.D.
Albany Medical College Albany, New York

So Yun comes to us from Albany Medical College in New York after completing her undergraduate work in Biology and Sociology at Tufts University.   So Yun is fluent in Korean, enjoys traveling, different ethnic foods, reading, snowboarding, drawing/painting and cooking.  She is also a Red Sox fan.

 

Smith

Leo Smith, M.D. 
Oregon Health and Science University Portland

This is a second career for Leo who is also an Analytical and Environmental Chemist.  A native Oregonian, Leo completed his undergraduate work in Secondary Science Education at Oregon State University before entering medical school at OHSU.  Leo enjoys bicycle touring, woodworking, canoeing and fishing.
