As the project name indicates, the research is primarily laboratory-based. However, Providence investigators are also very active in a large number of pharmaceutical company-sponsored clinical trials.

The Infectious Diseases laboratory focuses on molecular diagnostic and evaluation of antimicrobials.  The laboratory has 10 full-time employees with active participation of five MD consultants in Infectious Diseases.

At present, there are 19 active clinical trials in cardiovascular disease with a support staff of five and 10 clinical investigators.
