Residents learn and practice the principles of evidence-based medicine (EBM) while caring for their patients in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. Specified noon conferences are set aside to teach core principles of evidence-based medicine. In addition to these traditional experiences, our residency program has a required 2-week EBM rotation for residents during their second year where they gain a deeper knowledge of EBM while performing a research project and meeting individually with EBM faculty.
“As director of Evidence-Based Medicine, I work hard to make sure EBM is taught in a way that is relevant to our residents. The emphasis is really on how to use evidence to make the best clinical decisions for our patients. You will learn how to effectively search the literature, quickly analyze articles and make decisions in the face of uncertainty.” Meera Jain, M.D.
