Annual Salary
Effective July 1, 2007, this is the salary schedule for residents within Providence Health & Services in Oregon. Salaries are updated annually.

PGY-1
$45,750
PGY-2
$48,000
PGY-3
$50,000

Benefits

  • Medical and dental insurance: 100% paid by hospital.
  • Life insurance: 100% paid by hospital.
  • Vacation: Interns (PGY-1 house staff) receive three weeks of paid vacation; second- and third-year residents (PGY-2 and PGY-3) receive four weeks.

  • Mass transit pass: Free annual transit pass provides free ridership on Tri-Met and C-Tran buses, as well as the MAX light rail and trolley systems.
  • Liability insurance: 100% paid by hospital.

  • Transition allowance
  • Education Allowance: The hospital contributes $500 annually for educational purposes.
  • Oregon limited licensure fee: Paid in full by hospital.
  • USMLE Step 3 and Comlex fees: Paid in full by hospital.
  • Fitness center available: Wellness Works, the hospital's in-house fitness center, features weight training machines, cardiovascular equipment, free weights and aerobics classes.
  • Meals: House staff receive cafeteria lunches at no charge. For house staff on call, all meals are prepared free of charge.
  • Parking: Provided at no cost.
  • White lab coats: Provided at no cost.
