Providence Adult Outpatient Services provides intensive mental health treatment to people in crisis due to severe psychiatric symptoms.  Our highly skilled staff offers effective individualized treatment for a wide range of mental health concerns, including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Psychotic disorders
  • Co-occurring substance abuse problems
  • Difficult medication changes
  • Self harm behaviors
  • Decline in daily functioning at home or work

We offer the following programs:

Partial Hospital

This five-day intensive program focuses on treatment of acute symptoms and can be an alternative to inpatient hospitalization. The program includes evaluation by a psychiatrist, medication management and referrals for longer-term care. Patients participate in group therapy from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. (Treatment may start on any weekday). The average length of enrollment in this program is five days.

Treatment groups include:
  • Psychotherapy
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy
  • Art therapy
  • Stress management
  • Mental illness education
  • Mindfulness and planning for improved structure and self care

Intensive Outpatient Program

This program is offered for clients who are no longer in acute crisis but who need further support to recover from an illness. The average length of enrollment in this program is ten days.

Groups focus on increasing self-awareness, improving coping skills, reducing self-defeating behaviors, problem solving and building on existing strengths. Co-occurring Disorders Group is also available for individuals with mental health and chemical dependency issues.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is an effective approach for helping people manage unstable behavior and emotions. In this& six-month program, patients meet once a week for a group session and individual therapy.

Psychiatric Consultation

Upon referral from a physician or mental health provider, our psychiatrist can provide a mental health assessment with medication and follow-up recommendations.
