Portland, OR  97213

Overview:
Recovery from serious illness or injury often requires intense physical, occupational and speech therapy.  Once a patient is discharged from the hospital, this intensive level of therapy may best take place in an inpatient rehabilitation unit.

Providence Acute Rehabilitation Center (PARC) is a 21-bed inpatient unit located at Providence Portland Medical Center. It is designed specifically for patients who have suffered devastating injuries, strokes and other debilitating medical conditions. Here patients, doctors and a highly skilled team of therapists strive together to help patients regain quality of life after a life-altering medical event.

The team helps patients:

  • Regain self-confidence
  • Improve functional skills
  • Achieve maximum physical, cognitive, language and psychosocial skills

Families make up an important part of the recovery team. The PARC staff understands the concerns families and patients have about changes in lifestyle, roles and responsibilities that can result from major medical events. The center helps each family prepare for the patient’s homecoming. They teach the family how to care for their loved one while respecting his or her independence and dignity.
